In October of 2014, the US Postal Service announced that mailing and shipping prices will not change in January 2015. This means that today’s prices on popular USPS® mailing and shipping services, including First-Class®, Standard Mail® letters and flats, and Certified Mail® will remain in place through the early part of the new year.
The Postal Service has traditionally announced price change proposals in September and October. So for now, Mailers can breathe a sigh of relief. However, Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe did comment later that March 2015 is the earliest an increase could occur.
Though no price changes are targeted for January, the USPS may still opt to implement regulatory or service changes, such as more stringent full-service requirements around Intelligent Mail® or mail preparation.
