Ever wish there was a simple way to mail to every address in a certain area without the hassle of purchasing a list or obtaining a postage permit? Well, the U.S. Postal Service offers just such an option: Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) is a simple way to send a mailpiece to every household in a targeted neighborhood. Best of all, it's affordable, with postage of just 16 cents per piece.
EDDM is a great way for businesses to reach potential customers. But there are certain rules that come with using EDDM. Each mailpiece needs to fit within a certain template; have a special postage indicia; and be counted, bundled, and labeled before being dropped off at the post office from which it will be delivered. The process can be a little complicated, especially if you're new to EDDM. (You can read our frequently asked questions about EDDM here.)
Fortunately, we're EDDM experts at Click2Mail, which is one very good reason to partner with us on your EDDM mailings. When you work with us to create your EDDM mailing, you get more than a great-looking, professionally printed direct mail piece. You also get the confidence that your mailing will end up in your recipient's hands with no extra hassle for you.
To help you get the most out of Every Door Direct Mail, we offer three different EDDM options, depending on your needs and budget:
1. We print; you prep and take to the post office. You order your EDDM mailpiece online at Click2Mail.com (for example, a 12 x 4.5 folded menu mailer, a 6.25 x 11 postcard, or one of four other sizes). We print it and ship it to you, along with instructions for how to prepare your mailing for delivery. Then, you count and bundle the mailing by carrier route and drop it off at your local post office. This option is a little more work for you, but it can save you up to 18 cents per piece.
One important note for those considering the DIY option: When you create your mailing statement online at http://www.usps.com/everydoordirectmail, you'll have to choose a drop date for your mailing. Don't panic if you choose a date and then can't make it to the post office on that day; the paperwork you create through the USPS is good for 30 days.
2. We print and prep; you take to the post office. If counting and bundling your mailing sounds like a hassle, Click2Mail can do it for you. Then, we'll ship the prepared mailing to you, and all you need to do is drop it off at the post office. Once the mailing is received by the delivery post office, it's usually mailed the following day.
3. We print, prep, and send to the post office. Don't have time to go to the post office? Let Click2Mail do it all. We'll print your mailing, count and bundle each piece by carrier route and then mail them for you via "open and distribute" to the local post office. It couldn't be easier. You'll even receive an email with the Priority Mail tracking number so that you can track your package online at USPS.com and know when it's ready for delivery.
