QR Codes, Mobile Marketing, and Converting Lookers to Buyers in Real Estate

If you've been following the news at Click2Mail, you've probably heard us talking about all the ways you can use QR (“quick response”) codes on your direct mail pieces. QR codes (barcodes your mail recipients scan with a smartphone in order to get more information about your product or service) are a great way to boost customer response and increase the effectiveness of your marketing efforts. And for real estate agents who are looking for ways to convert lookers into buyers, using QR codes as the link between your direct mail and your online marketing efforts can be especially powerful.

Consider this success story: Kathy, a real estate agent from Milwaukee, recently began an integrated mobile and direct marketing campaign. To start, she used Click2Mail's easy Mobile Website Builder to create a mobile-enabled website, which features information about all of the properties she has listed, including a map to the home, virtual tour, photos, and the MLS details. The site also gives visitors the option to fill out a form to schedule a showing. The whole process took Kathy less than an hour (no joke!) and didn’t require any special technical knowledge or skills.

Next, Kathy used Click2Mail’s integrated QR code generator to create a QR code that, when scanned, would take her prospects to the new mobile-enabled website. Then, still within the Click2Mail system, Kathy designed a jumbo postcard featuring information about one of her featured properties, to mail to her list of prospective buyers in the Milwaukee area. The postcard also included the QR code, with instructions to "Scan this code to learn more." Finally, Kathy simply uploaded her postcard PDF and her list, and clicked to mail.

Kathy's integrated marketing campaign has allowed her to efficiently deliver information about her listed properties to potential buyers while also letting her track the response rate and see web analytics that let her measure her return on investment (and then do more of what worked great and tweak what didn’t work as well). The campaign has been so successful that she now plans to make it a regular part of her marketing efforts for all the properties she lists.

Or consider another success story: Jeff runs a small real estate team in Savannah. Every month he sends out a flyer self-mailer newsletter to prospective buyers listing all of the upcoming open houses in the area, and giving information and photos about each property. On the newsletter he includes a QR code. When recipients scan the code, they’re directed to Jeff’s mobile website (powered by Click2Mail Mobile Marketing) with information about the upcoming open houses and directions to each property.

Jeff also prints the same QR code on his business cards. Every time he holds an open house, he makes sure that the prospective buyers who come by get his business card, and he lets them know that by scanning the QR code and going to his mobile-enabled website to sign up for his monthly newsletter, they’ll be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift card to a local restaurant. Jeff has found that he gets four times as many people to sign up by giving them the option, through the QR code and mobile website, to do it right there and then (as opposed to waiting until they get home to the computer).

Those are just a couple of examples of how real estate professionals use QR codes to connect with potential buyers and market their properties more efficiently.
