Think Spring … Or the Luck of the Irish
The winter thaw is finally here, and you – and your customers – are ready for spring. A new season brings plenty of new reasons to mail, as do other special events in March, from St. Patrick's Day to NCAA March Madness. St. Patrick's Day – March 17th, 2013. Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day. But this holiday offers far more than an excuse to throw back a few pints at the local pub or sip on a green milkshake. Virtually any business can have the “luck of the Irish” on this day. Take Sean, who owns a travel agency. He wanted to increase bookings, and decided to offer a special St. Patrick's Day promotion to encourage people to use his services. Anyone who stopped by his office from March 15th through the 17th could enter a drawing to win an all expenses paid trip to Ireland.
Sean used a multi-pronged approach to promote his offer. While he spread the word via social media (including Facebook and Twitter), he also designed a 6.5 x 9 postcard that featured a beautiful picture of Ireland's countryside and a “Win a Free Vacation” message. The flip side of the postcard explained the offer in more detail. Sean then used Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) to send the postcard to every address in zip codes where he'd done business in the past.
The response to Sean's offer was great. Inquiries spiked after the mailing went out and several people booked trips with him. Direct mail is now an integral part of Sean's marketing efforts, and he plans to send similar themed mailings in the future.
First Day of Spring – March 20th, 2013. Spring means new beginnings, and new excuses to mail. “Spring cleaning” is a popular theme. Consider Dan, a real estate agent. Quarterly newsletters are a key part of his marketing plan, and for his spring issue, he decided that the main article would focus on “10 Spring Cleaning Tips.”
After he had the newsletter copy ready to go, Dan used Click2Mail's templates to design a 8.5 x 11 flyer self-mailer. He then took advantage of our Mailing Online tools to personalize each mail piece with the name of the recipient, and sent the newsletter to everyone on his mailing list. Previously, Dan had used a local printer to produce the newsletter, and assembled the mailing in-house. Switching to Click2Mail simplified the process, saving him both time and money. Dan quickly decided that he'd be using Click2Mail for all his future newsletters.
March Madness – March 20th through April 8th, 2013. College basketball fans go “mad” for the annual NCAA tournament, held every year in March and April. Julio, who owns a pizza shop, decided to capitalize on the fans' excitement – and their desire to snack during the games – with a special March Madness promotion.
Julio put together a 12 x 4.5 mailer featuring all of his menu items (plus mouth-watering pictures). He also included a coupon offering a free order of chicken wings with any large pizza order on game days. Then, Julio used EDDM to send his menu to every address in his delivery area.
The response to the mailing was excellent. Orders from both new and repeat customers were up during the entire March Madness event. Better yet, many people mentioned the coupon when placing their orders, which helped Julio track the success of his mailing. He was so pleased with the results that he plans similar promotions in the future.
