Fall is upon us, and with the new season comes new mailing opportunities. From Breast Cancer Awareness to special Halloween offers, there are lots of opportunities to reach your customers through direct mail this October.

Breast Cancer Awareness month – October is national Breast Cancer Awareness month. Show your support for the cause with a special “pink” event, or help your customers show their support. For example, take Carrie, a breast cancer survivor and cosmetic-store owner. Every October she comes up with a new way to advertise Breast Cancer Awareness month in her store and get her customers involved. Last year Carrie decided to donate 10% of all her proceeds to a breast cancer research foundation. Using Click2Mail’s mailing list services she sent out an 8.5″ x 11″ self-mailer to every household where women were present within 20 miles of her store. She saw a large boost in sales and at the end of the month had a $5,000 donation for the breast cancer foundation.

Beginning of the fourth quarter – It’s the last quarter of the year and the perfect time to send out your regular mailer or quarterly newsletter. Take, for example, Debra, who owns a scrapbooking store. She sends out a quarterly newsletter that includes articles, a class schedule, special updates, and information on upcoming events. Debra uses her own mailing list to send out the 8.5″ x 11″ booklets to her regular customers.  The newsletter gives her an opportunity to stay connected with her customers and make them feel involved with what’s going on at her shop. Debra first started mailing the booklets two years ago to about 40 of her customers. Since then she has had a tremendous response from the newsletters; this quarter, she will send over 120.

Boss’s Day: October 16th – Good bosses do a lot for their employees throughout the year. Take the opportunity to help your customers celebrate their own bosses. As the manager of a local gift basket store, Mark understands the amount of effort it takes to help run a successful business throughout the year. He really enjoys celebrating Boss’s Day because it’s a great way to give back to his and other bosses in his community. Every year his store runs a Boss’s Day special, which he advertises using direct mail. This year Mark used Click2Mail’s Every Door Direct Mail service to send out a 6.25″ x 11″ mailer that advertised his special arrangements and pricing. He also offered an early bird special – people who ordered their gift baskets before October 1st would receive 15% off their purchase. Mark tracked the mailers by asking each customer how they heard about his store. 60% of the people calling for Boss’s Day orders said they did so because of the mailer and 20% of them were new customers. Mark was thrilled with the outcome of his mailer and is currently working on his holiday mailing campaign.

Halloween: October 31st – Halloween is a fun time to dress up and step out of the normal routine of things. You can use this day to step out of your normal routine and offer your customers something different. Consider, perhaps, giving your customers a reason to scream with a “Spooktacular Savings” deal. That’s what David did. He owns a department store and typically sends 15% off coupons to people on his mailing list. He has been looking for new ways to bring customer in so he decided to send a special 4.25″ x 6″ postcard with a 25% off coupon to his regular customers and, using Click2Mail’s mailing list services, consumers who live within a 10-mile radius of his store. Not only did David receive great feedback from his regular customers, he also saw an 8% increase in business from thhttps://click2eddm.com/e previous October (the most successful he’s had so far).
