National Nurses Day – May 6th, 2013. National Nurses Day (sometimes known as National RN Recognition Day) kicks off National Nurses Week. You can use this holiday as an opportunity to celebrate and thank nurses for all they do, especially if your business caters to people in the healthcare industry.
Take Elise, who manages a restaurant close to a major hospital and several doctor's offices. Many of her customers are nurses, and she wanted to show her appreciation on National Nurses Day. Elise designed a 4.25 x 6 postcard offering a special discount to any nurse who visited the restaurant on May 6th. She also included a small mention of the restaurant's gift cards, reminding people to say “thank you” to the nurses in their lives. Then, she used Click2Mail's mailing list services to purchase two lists: One of people in her area who worked in the healthcare industry, and another of physicians offices and other health-related businesses that might employ nurses.
After mailing her postcard, Elise had several people stop by to purchase gift cards. She also had another person call to place a catering order for a doctor's office that wanted to treat the staff nurses to lunch. Elise was thrilled with the results of her mailing, which helped both boost her sales but also increase goodwill and name recognition among healthcare workers in the area.
Mother's Day – May 12th, 2013. Mother’s Day offers promotional opportunities for a huge range of businesses. Direct mail is a great solution for anyone offering Mother's Day specials, such as restaurants, spas, and florists. Consider the way Louis, who owns a floral shop, used direct mail to promote his Mother's Day arrangement and bouquets.
Louis always did a lot of business on Mother's Day, but recently he'd been seeing some increased competition from big chain stores selling bouquets. He knew that he offered a superior product and service at a great price, and he wanted to let potential customers know that if they shopped at his store, they wouldn't just get a cookie-cutter arrangement of carnations. With that goal in mind, he decided to mail a 6 x 11 postcard to households in the area with children, with the assumption that households with kids would be celebrating Mother's Day. Louis used Click2Mail's mailing list services to purchase a list. Then, he worked with our design team to create a beautiful postcard that featured full-color photos of some of his most attractive arrangements. The postcard also included a special coupon for Mother's Day flowers.
Memorial Day – May 27th, 2013. This federal holiday honors the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. armed forces. It also marks the unofficial start of summer, kicking off the season of pool parties, vacations, and backyard barbecues. Tom, who owns a pool supply store, decided to remind his existing customers that it was time to get their pools ready for the season. He created a Memorial Day-themed direct mail piece that featured special discounts and coupons good over the entire holiday weekend.
Tom created a 8.5 x 11 self-mailer catalog of some of his most popular items, including chemicals, filters, automatic cleaners, pool toys, and more. He also included a few discount coupons that people could use to get 15% off their entire purchase. Then, Tom mailed the catalogs to his list of previous customers. The catalog was personalized with the recipient's name, both in the address space and on the front cover, where there was a message encouraging, “[Name], Get Ready for Fun in the Sun!” Tom did great business over the three-day weekend, and based on the number of coupons redeemed, he attributed a lot of that success to his direct mail efforts.
