Can I use Click2Mail Templates with Canva?
Yes, you can upload downloadable templates from Click2Mail into Canva, but because Canva handles design files differently than vector tools like Adobe Illustrator, there is a specific workflow to make it work correctly.
Click2Mail provides templates as PDFs, DOCXs, PAGES, PNGs, or EPS files that include guide lines for margins, print bleed, the EDDM Indicia box, and the USPS addressing clear zone.
Step-by-Step Guide: Designing Direct Mail in Canva with Click2Mail Templates
1 Download the PDF or Image Template from Click2Mail
- Download the template for your chosen size (e.g., 4.25x6_single-sided-postcard).
- Ensure you grab the file format suited for image or document import (PDF or PNG work best in Canva; Canva cannot natively edit vector EPS files).

How Our Templates Work
Think of this downloadable template as your design cheat sheet! It clearly shows you:
- Where to place your text and images so everything fits perfectly.
- Where the postage and postal markings go—these are already built into the template, so you don’t need to worry about adding them yourself.
Just drop in your design, and you’re ready to go!
2 Import the Template to Canva
- Go to your Canva homepage and click Upload (or drag and drop the Click2Mail PDF/image into Canva).
- If uploading a PDF template, Canva will automatically open it as a new design formatted to the exact dimensions of that template.
3 Set Up the Template as a Traceable Background Layer
- Open the imported design.
- If you uploaded a PDF, the trim, bleed, and USPS address zones will already be visible on the page.
- If you created a blank custom design and uploaded a PNG template image, drop the image onto your canvas and stretch it so it fills the entire page edge-to-edge.
- Lock the template layer: Select the template image/element and click the Lock icon (🔒) in the top-right toolbar. This prevents you from accidentally moving or resizing the guidelines while designing.
4 Design Over the Template
- Use Canva’s text and element tools to build your design directly over the template.
- Visual Check: Ensure your background extends all the way to the outer bleed line, all critical text stays inside the inner safe margin, and no design elements extend over on the marked EDDM Indicia, postage Indicia or Addressing Block.
5 Remove or Hide the Guide Layer Before Exporting
- Before exporting your final file, delete or hide the template guide image (unlock it first if locked). If left in the background, those template guide lines will print on your final mailpiece.
- Tip: Keep the Indicia and Address Block text/boxes if the template required you to place them, but remove the template’s dashed boundary lines and margin labels.
6 Export as PDF and Print
- Export the finished file as PDF Print (You can enabling Crop marks and bleed if you like) and upload the resulting PDF to Click2Mail. If you need assistance with this step, Click2Mail live customer support can assist you. Or check out the Click2Mail YouTube Channel video to watch and learn!
Before submitting your mailing, you will be prompted to generate and approve a digital proof of your mailpiece.
